PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purlin structure being made lightweight, having strength equal to or greater than those of the prior art, and costing low, for the purlin of a knockdown building such as a carport or terrace. SOLUTION: The purlin 20 of the roof 2 of a knockdown structure such as a carport includes a lower wall part 21 secured on purlin supports 3, 4, an upper wall part 22 supporting a roof board connecting member 11, and a vertical wail part 23 connecting the lower wall part 21 and the upper wall part 22. The vertical wall part 23 comprises an anti-torsion hollow part 24 provided on at least one of upper and lower side edges and a plate-shaped wall part 25 constituting the remainder.
