PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save fuel consumption, to enhance stability and controlability, and to make excellent dimensional stability and uniformity characteristics of a tire by substituting a cord applied to a carcass part of the tire with a steel cord comprising various twisted filament structure. SOLUTION: A steel cord has filaments 1a provided by drawing carbon steel having 0.70-0.96 wt.% of carbon content, and brass is plated on a surface of the filament 1a. A tensile strength level of the respective filaments 1a before twisted is 260-375 kgf/mm2 when a diameter of the filaments 1a is 0.25 mm or less, is 250-355 kgf/mm2 when it is 0.26-0.35 mm, is 250-355 kgf/mm2 when it is 0.36-0.45 mm, the respective filaments 1a closely contact one another to eliminate gaps, and twisting cycles are shortened.
