PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain deceleration feeling with a sense of security when decelerating in driving. SOLUTION: In a brake assisting system, a distance between a driving car and the car ahead is detected by a laser radar 31. The deceleration required top stop the vehicle without collision is calculated from the distance between two cars and the speed of the driving car when a driver presses on a brake pedal 21. Then the brake fluid pressure in accordance with the deceleration is assisted. Thereby, the brake operation pattern of the skilled that rather high assist pressure is applied at the initial stage of braking adding a secondary delaying element to the calculated target deceleration or to the brake fluid pressure, and then sufficient brake pressure required to stop is applied, can be reproduced. |
