A1-PLATED STEEL SHEET FOR FUEL TANK AND PRODUCTION OF FUEL TANK USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an A1-plated steel sheet formed with a resin film on its surface which is superior in resisting scoring in press processing into a fuel tank member and is superior in resisting corrosion against stored fuel and a method for producing a fuel tank using the same. SOLUTION: Alkali soluble resin is used for the resin film. For this resin urethane resin or acrylic resin which is soluble in alkali water solution of pH 9.0 or above, and has in its molecule carboxyl group or hydrogen atoms of a part displaced by 1-50% simultaneously with alkali metal, and whose acid value is between 40 and 90 is preferable. It is possible to add to the resin film synthetic resin powder 1-25 mass %, silica powder 1-30 mass %, and the film thickness is preferably 0.2-5.0μm. For production, an A1-plated steel sheet formed with an alkali soluble resin film on its surface is press processed for forming the upper tank and the lower tank of a fuel tank member. Then both fuel tank members are washed with alkali solution for melting and removing the resin film. Then both members are joined and the surface is processed for painting.
