PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polyurethane foam that has improved hardness, can give continuous or readily continued foam structure and reduces the foam contraction by carrying out the foaming reaction in the presence of a specific delayed action type amine catalyst. SOLUTION: When (A) a polyisocyanate is allowed to react with active hydrogen-bearing components, for example, water and (B) an organic polyol in the presence of (C) a delayed action type amine catalyst, a reaction product between (i) tertiary amine and (ii) a halo-functional or a hydroxyl-functional carboxylic acid is used as a catalyst. In a preferred embodiment, the acid has the formula: (X)n-R-(COOH)n [R is a (substituted) divalent hydrocarbon component; X is a halogen, for example, chlorine, bromine, or fluorine; m and n are each at least 1], typically chloropropionic acid, while the component (i) is dimethylaminoethanol or the like. |
