PURPOSE: A method for the preparation of caprolactam is provided by which caprolactam is directly obtained through a single process from pentenoic acid derivatives, and which is more simple than a conventional process from butadiene. CONSTITUTION: Caprolactam is prepared by the aminomethylation of pentenoic acid derivatives, by reaction with carbon monoxide, hydrogen and ammonia. The method is characterized in that aminomethylation of pentenoic acid derivatives is carried out by reaction with carbon monoxide, hydrogen and ammonia, at a temperature higher than 30°C and in the presence of a catalyst with a base of at least one metal of group VIII of the classification of elements. |
