PURPOSE: A method and a system for increasing a duty cycle for a microthermoelectric device type cooling machine are provided to emit excessive heat of thermoelectric element to a hot source by thermally switching the thermoelectric element to the hot source alternatively, thereby achieving thermoelectric cooling with higher efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A system for increasing a duty cycle for a microthermoelectric device type cooling machine includes a thermoelectric element(15), a hot source(14) connected to the thermoelectric element for emitting heat generated by the thermoelectric element, a cold sink(16) for cooling an object, an element(22) for supplying power to the thermoelectric element and an element(38) for alternatively and thermally connecting the thermoelectric element to the hot source for achieving a high efficient cooling, wherein a heat impedance of the thermoelectric cooling machine is controlled by the steps of alternatively coupling a first surface area(19) of the thermoelectric element to the cold sink, continuously connecting a second surface area of the element to the hot source, and alternatively connecting a third surface area of the element to the hot source.
