The device has a gas connection nipple 1, via which methane gas flows into a gas distributor 2 provided with gas nozzles 3. A combustion chamber 5 is located behind said gas distributor in the direction of flow of the methane gas. According to the invention, the combustion chamber is filled with diffusable material. As a result of the injector effect at the nozzle outlet 3, slight air circulation occurs in the diffusable material. The air sweeping downwards on the sides of the combustion chamber 5 is sucked up as a result of the injector effect and is preheated by the hot combustion exhaust gases which soar upwards. The diffusable filling material 4 in the combustion chamber 5 is heated up to the crack temperature of the methane gas and leads to an increased formation of carbon monoxide in the exhaust-gas stream. On emerging from the combustion chamber 5, the hot carbon monoxide reacts with the atmospheric oxygen and thus leads to the desired stable yellow colouring of the flame, as is desirable in the theatre and showbusiness sector. <IMAGE> |
