PURPOSE: A camera device and a method for processing an image are provided to reduce the amount of memory required for a camera such a flash memory cards. CONSTITUTION: A camera device according to the present invention includes an optical detector, a CCD, an A/D converter unit and a controller. The CCD(Charge Coupled Device) converts optical signals from an object from the optical detector into electrical signals. The A/D converter unit converts the electrical signal from the CCD to a digital image data. The controller compresses the image data from the A/D converter which is to be stored in a rewriting optical disk or a reproducible optical disk.
