PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting rod having a cushioning function by forming rod sections with opposite bow-shaped plate springs with two legs as the cushioning device of the connecting rod on the drive side. SOLUTION: When a plate spring type connecting rod formed with opposite bow-shaped rods 1, 1 receives a compressing action, bending stress occurs near the center. When the connecting rod receives a pulling action (intake stroke), bending stress occurs in the outside direction. Knock vibration noise and inertial impact can be absorbed and mitigated by the cushioning action of the plate spring generated by the bending stress. The rods 1 have an outwardly forked shape, the impact force applied to the center is split and dispersed to four directions as shown by arrows, thus the knock impact is mitigated and has flexibility against the elevation angle of the connecting rod.
