PURPOSE: A voice compression processing apparatus for an internet telephony gateway is provided to connect the subscribers connected with the PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) through the internet work. CONSTITUTION: Connected with PSTN's(21,22), a PSTN connection part(210) transmits and receives E1 PCM(Pulse Code Modulation) voice data. An internet network connection part(220) connected with an internet network(40) transmits compressed voice data to the internet network(40) and receives compressed voice data from the internet network(40). A voice compression/decompression processing part(230) compresses the E1 PCM voice data received from the PSTN connection part(210) and decompresses the compressed voice data received from a main control part(240) into a PCM voice data to output as an E1 signal to the PSTN connection part(210). The main control part(240) outputs the compressed voice data outputted from the voice compression/decompression processing part(230) to the internet network connection part(220). A logic control part(250) arbitrates a data bus of the main control part(240). A voltage compensation buffer(260) adjusts the voltage level of the data from the voice compression/decompression processing part(230) into a required voltage level.
