<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject card excellent in electrical insulating and gas barrier properties and flex resistance, having a low percentage of water absorption, processable into a thin form and usable for IC cards by using a liquid crystalline polymer capable of manifesting optical anisotropy at the time of melting. SOLUTION: This plastic card is obtained by using a liquid crystalline polymer capable of manifesting optical anisotropy at the time of melting. The polymer used is preferably a liquid crystal polyester resin composition comprising (A) a liquid crystal polyester as a continuous phase and (B) a copolymer having functional groups having reactivity with the liquid crystal polyester as a dispersed phase. The composition can be prepared by melt kneading 56.0-99.9 wt.% of the component A with 44.0-0.1 wt.% of the component B. The component A is preferably obtained by reacting an aromatic dicarboxylic acid with an aromatic diol and an aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid and the component B is preferably a copolymer containing 0.1-30 wt.% of an unsaturated carboxylic acid glycidyl ester unit and/or an unsaturated glycidyl ether unit.</p> |
