PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly detect a sensor mark by providing a magnetic layer on the mark in an ink ribbon having an ink layer mainly containing a dye and the mark on one main surface of a sheet-like base material. SOLUTION: A method for thermally transferring image information or the like input to a video recorder to be developed on a thermal transfer sheet such as a printing sheet or the like has the steps of superposing the sheet (ink ribbon) formed with a dye layer containing a sublimable dye and a heat fusible dye and a sheet to be heat transferred (photographic paper) formed with a receptive layer for receiving the dye so that the dye layer is opposed to the receptive layer, and applying a heat by a thermal head to form the image. Here, the ribbon is formed by providing a plurality of dye ink layers 2 on a predetermined areas of one main surface of a sheet-like base material 1 and providing a sensor mark 3 disposed between a plurality of the layers 2. The mark 3 is formed to have a magnetic layer, and its detecting accuracy is improved.
