PURPOSE: A transparent copolymer which has good flexibility and heat-resistant property and does not contain halogen being able to cause the environmental pollution, a method for preparing thereof with high degree of polymerizing activity and molded products thereof are provided. CONSTITUTION: A copolymer of an ethylene and/or an alpha-olefin, a cyclic olefin and an alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon has a cyclic olefin content of 0.01-66 mol.% and an alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon content of 3-99 mol.%, wherein the content of the alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon content is more than a half of the cyclic olefin content and the total content of the ethylene and/or alpha-olefin, cyclic olefin and alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon is 100 mol.%. The copolymer is prepared by copolymerizing an ethylene and/or an alpha-olefin with a cyclic olefin and an alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon under a catalyst prepared from the following (A) and £(B) and/or (C)|, wherein (A) is a complex of a transition metal of the following formula 1, 2 or 3, where M¬1 is an atom of the transition metal group 4 of the periodic table of the elements; A is an atom of the group 16 of the periodic table of the elements; J is an atom of the group 14 of the periodic table of the elements; Cp¬1 is a group having cyclopentadiene-type anionic structure; each X¬1, X¬2, R¬1, R¬2, R¬3, R¬4, R¬5 and R¬6 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen atom, halogen atom, alkyl group, aralkyl group, aryl group, substituted silyl group, alkoxy group, aralkyloxy group and di-substituted amino group; X¬3 is an atom of the group 16 of the periodic table of the elements; R¬1, R¬2, R¬3, R¬4, R¬5 and R¬6 are optionally bonded together one another to form a ring; and each two of M¬1, A, J, Cp¬1, X¬1, X¬2, R¬1, R¬2, R¬3, R¬4, R¬5 and R¬6 in the formula 2 or 3 is same or different from each other; (B) is more than one aluminum compound selected from (B1) to (B3), where (B1) is an organoaluminum compound of E¬1aAlZ3-a, (B2) is a cyclic aluminoxane of {-Al(E¬3)-O-}b and (B3) is a linear aluminoxane of {-Al(E¬3)-O-}cAlE¬32(where each E¬1, E¬2 and E¬3 is a hydrocarbon group and all E¬1, E¬2 and E¬3 are same or different from one another; Z is hydrogen atom or halogen atom and all Z are same or different; a is a number of more than 0 and not more than 3; b is an integer of more than 2; and c is an integer of more than 1); and (C) is more than one fluoride compound selected from (C1) to (C3), where (C1) is a fluoride compound of BQ¬1Q¬2Q¬3, (C2) is a fluoride compound of G¬+(BQ¬1Q¬2Q¬3Q¬4)¬- and (C3) is a fluoride compound of (L-H)¬+(BQ¬1Q¬2Q¬3Q¬4)¬-(where B is a fluoride compound having a valence of three; each Q¬1 and Q¬2 is same or different from each other and is selected from the group consisting of halogen atom, hydrocarbon group, halogenated hydrocarbon group, substituted silyl group, alkoxy group and di-substituted amino group; G¬+ is an inorganic or organic cation; L is a neutral lewis base; and (L-H)¬+ is a bronsted acid).
