PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seta back for automobile which gives no foreign matter feeling to a user when loaded, has improved seating feeling, and has simple structure at low cost. SOLUTION: A flat mat 19 is equipped in between flat mat support members 17. An energizing means 18 to usually energize the flat mat support member 17 to the front side is equipped in between both side frames 2b and the flat mat support member 17. An extensible elastic means 20 is put in between the flat mat support member and the flat mat so that the flat mat is enabled to move in the longitudinal direction and to return to the original place. The energizing means is not extended in the seating condition but extended only by the shock load by a rear-end collision to enable a pressure receiving member to press by movement of the flat mat support member.
