PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply use a step and board or alight a large vehicle with no difficulty by activating a control circuit when a door switch is displaced to the open from closure of a boarding/alighting door, displacing the step to a using position from a storage position, and lifting the step from a lowered position according to the action of an operation switch. SOLUTION: A control circuit is activated when a door switch is displaced to the open from closure of a boarding/alighting door 2, and it displaces a step 3 to a using position from a storage position. The step 3 is lifted from a lowered position according to an operation switch 11. When a seat switch detects seating, the step 3 is displaced to the storage position from the using position. When the seat switch indicates seating and the door switch is displaced to the closure from open of the boarding/alighting door 2, the step 3 is displaced to the storage position from the using position, and its action is rested. When the door switch is displaced to the open from closure of the boarding/alighting door 2 while the seat switch indicates seating, the step 3 is displaced to the using position from the storage position.
