PURPOSE: A Japanese character input system including a memory for a controlling program and method for controlling register numbers is provided to prevent unnecessary increase in data size of a Chinese character dictionary by automatically deleting unnecessary words among automatically memorized words and simultaneously memorizing the specially converted words. CONSTITUTION: A Japanese character input system including memory for controlling program and method for controlling register numbers includes the following components. A conversion engine(111) converts the inputted characters into Chinese characters by using Chinese character dictionary. A special conversion engine(112) specially converts characters which cannot be converted by the conversion engine(111). An automatic register(113) automatically registers the specially converted words to the Chinese character dictionary. An automatic deletion unit(114) automatically deletes unnecessary words which are not used for a certain time.
