PURPOSE: A control apparatus with reduced quiescent current is provided to wait a supply voltage defined for upstream electronic connection and down-convert the quiescent current supplied by a voltage source. CONSTITUTION: A control apparatus comprises a first level which provides a supply voltage defined for an upstream electronic circuit, and a circuit level connected downstream of the first level for down-converting the quiescent current supplied by a voltage source. In order to enable the quiescent current to be substantially down-converted, said circuit level is simply equipped with a switch which may be controlled through a set point signal from the control circuit so as to be either in an open state or in a closed state.
