METHOD FOR DECOMPOSING CHLORINATED ORGANIC COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate operation and to reduce treatment cost by decomposing chlorinated organic compounds under the coexistence of an active oxygen donating material with active oxygen discharged from the active oxygen donating material. SOLUTION: Dioxins or other chlorinated organic compounds in waste gas generated in the incineration of municipal garbage, industrial waste or the like, are decomposed under the coexistence of an active oxygen donating material with active oxygen discharged from the active oxygen donating material. The active oxygen donating material is preferably MnO2 or an MnO2-containing material. The waste gas is passed through an MnO2 or MnO2-containing material packed bed to decompose the chlorinated organic compounds in the gas. Gaseous chlorinated organic compounds may be brought into oxidative decomposition by coexistence with powder of the active oxygen donating material.
