PURPOSE: Lubricity additives for low sulfur fuels comprising mono- and dialkyl phenols, oligomers thereof and alkoxylated oligomers of alkylene bridged alkyl phenols are provided. CONSTITUTION: A fuel composition comprises a fuel having a sulfur content of less than 0.2% by weight and from 10 to 10,000 ppm of a lubricity additive selected from the group consisting of oil-soluble alkyl phenols, alkylene bridged oligomers of alkyl phenols, alkoxylated alkyl phenols and alkylene bridged alkoxylated oligomeric or cyclic oligomeric alkylphenols, where the alkoxy is C2-C4 alkoxy. The lubricity additive is a alkylene bridged alkoxylated oligomeric alkyl phenol additive of the formula 1 wherein each n is independently 1 or 2, and wherein m is 2 or 3 and p is 0 or 1, R represents an alkyl group of 1 to 30 carbon atoms, R' is ethylene, propylene or butylene, x is 1-20 and y is 0-18, and the Rn and any CHURN groups are located ortho or para to the O(R'O)XH group, and wherein if m is 2 the additive has a cyclic structure, both CHURN groups linking to form a -CH2CH2 bridging moiety.
