An improved process for manufacturing carbon black by furnace process in High Volume High Temperature (HVHT) reactor. The process comprises burning liquid hydrocarbons supporting feedstock between 1800 to 2000 DEG C, allowing the hot flue gas coming from combustion zone to reaction zone of the reactor, allowing the pyrolysed smoke from the reactor zone to cooling zone to reduce the temperature, allowing said smoke to enter a cooler to bring down the temperature in passing said cool gas through an evaporating zone where it is further cooled with water spray, allowing the sprayed water droplets to absorb heat to get evaporated and passing the water quenched smoke into an air preheater for utilizing it in said combustion chamber.
