The electromagnet has a pot-shaped magnet housing, (1) an iron core (6) mounted centrally in the housing, a wire coil (2) mounted on the iron core for generating a magnetic flux and a disc-shaped armature plate (3) that is attracted by the housing when the electromagnet is stimulated and exerts a force on a device attached to the electromagnet via a central actuating pin (4). The armature plate is in the form of a conical frustum.
