An internal pipe welding machine including a clamp arrangement having a plurality of pipe or pipeline engaging clamps, an actuating arrangement and a lock arrangement, the engaging clamps being moved by the actuating arrangement between a first unclamped position, where the engaging clamps are disengaged from an inner wall of a pipe or pipeline, and a second clamped position, where the engaging clamps engage an inner wall of the pipe or pipeline, to secure the internal pipe welding machine relative to the pipe or pipeline, wherein when the pipe or pipeline engaging clamps are in the second clamped position the lock arrangement mechanically locks the engaging clamps in the second clamped position.
