X-ray tube with optimised electron incidence angle

The X-ray tube has a vacuum casing with a cathode and an anode enclosed by a magnetic system for deflection and focusing of the electron beam onto the angled edge (5) of the anode, with an X-ray beam exit window (7) positioned at a corresponding angle to the rotation axis. The edge of the anode extends radially outwards at an angle selected so that the deflected electron beam (ES) is incident at an angle of 90 degrees, to the electron beam exit window, which is provided in the conically tapered section of the vacuum casing.
