The invention relates to a brush unit which is designed for use with a toothbrush provided with an electric drive serving to oscillate the brush unit in relation to an axis of movement (43). The brush unit comprises a brush support (41) and a plurality of bristles which are anchored in the support, protrude outwards from same and a grouped in bundles (44, 45). The brush unit in particular has bristles or bristle bundles (45) which are situated at a distance from the axis of movement (43) and inclined in relation to the axis of movement at an angle of inclination of, for example, approximately 6 DEG . The brush unit is particularly suitable for cleaning interdental spaces and removing dental plaque. It can be used especially advantageously with toothbrushes which permit both a rotation about the axis of movement and a vibrating reciprocating movement in the direction of the axis of movement.
