The seal for the bearing (2) of a web spreading roller is a labyrinth seal (6,6') on both sides of the bearing (2). Each has a rigid and undivided outer ring (7,7') with a labyrinth surface on the inner side with a circular cross section. Each also has a flexible and undivided inner ring (8,8') with its outer side as the counterpart labyrinth surface to that of the outer ring (7,7'). The inner ring (8,8') is of rubber or a suitable elastomer material. The inner ring (8,8') has one or more projecting sections initially against the outer ring (7,7') to close the labyrinth gap between the rings. In operation they wear, so that the seal becomes a fully non-grinding seal. An Independent claim is included for assembling the spreader roller bearing seal. The inner ring (8) of the first labyrinth seal (6) is bent for fitting into the outer ring (7), and the first seal (6) is fitted between the mantle segment (4) and the axis bush (5) and the disks, against the limit stops (11,12) at the inner side of the mantle segment (4) and outer side of the axis bush (5), for the first labyrinth seal (6). The bearing (2) is fitted between the mantle segment (4) and the axis bush (5) and disks of the outer bearing ring (14), against the outer ring (7) of the first seal (6) and the inner bearing ring (15) of the bearing (2) against the first inner ring limit stop (13). The second inner bearing ring limit stop (16) is fitted. The second labyrinth seal (6') is assembled by bending the inner ring (8') to fit into the outer ring (7'). The second labyrinth seal (6') is fitted between the mantle segment (4) and axis bush (5) and the disks, against the inner and outer rings (14,15) of the bearing (2). The limit stops (17,12') of the second labyrinth seal (6') are mounted at the inner side of the mantle segment (4) and the outer side of the axis bush (5).
