A METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING A BLOCK BOTTOM BAG OUT OF A FLAT BAG, AND A WEB OF FLAT BAG MEMBERS FOR THIS PURPOSE

For the formation of "stand bags" on the basis of flat bag elements of plastic, it is known that projecting, triangular flaps are formed at the bottom corners by block distension of the flat bag, and that these flaps can be folded around the bag for fixation by welding to a bottom or side surface. It has also been proposed that for the improvement of the standing stability, a cutting-off of these flaps can be effected in connection with a welding together of the cut edges. The invention discloses how precisely this operation can be carried out with increased security by local distension of the bottom area, and that it is with great advantage that work can be effected with a preceding cutting-away of those areas of the flat bag elements which would otherwise form triangular flaps, while the distension and said welding together are carried out in connection with that station where the bags are filled and finally closed. It is hereby avoided that loose cut-off waste material can appear in the filling station.
