<p>A process for producing 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)quinoline-3-carbaldehyde, represented by formula (III) characterized by oxidizing 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-hydroxymethylquinoline, represented by formula (I), with a salt of a hypohalogenous acid in the presence of a quaternary ammonium salt represented by formula (II), wherein R?1, R2, R3, and R4¿ are the same or different and each represents C¿1-16? alkyl or benzyl (the benzyl may have been substituted by C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy, or halogeno); and X?-¿ represents a halogen ion, sulfate ion, or methanesulfonate ion.</p> |
