A step-gear for vehicles consists of a number (R) of similarly shaped sets of hollow drive wheels, with two wheels in each set (2'), and one set for each gear ratio. Each internal geared wheel is located eccentrically within a set collar. If the set collar is fixed to the housing, the output speed varies in accordance with the ratio of the pinion and hollow drive wheel. If the set collar is not secured, all the power transmission components rotate together, with the result that the input and output speeds are identical.
