The door closer has a closing spring (14) and hydraulic piston cylinder unit where the piston has a piston rod and pressure compensating chamber for changing the volume of the hydraulic chambers. A compensating body (12) such as a closed and/or elastic hollow body is mounted in the pressure compensating chamber and fills this out partially or completely. The pressure compensating chamber is formed in one of the axially successive hydraulic chambers (16).
