PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image oriented according to an image pickup direction. SOLUTION: A posture detecting means 19 for detecting a posture of an image receiving part 11 with respect to the direction of a gravity is provided inside the part 11. The means 19 is formed of an arm 22 provided with a projection 23 and a weight 24 at the respective ends of itself and freely rotatably supported in the direction of the gravity B and an actuator 26 pressurized by the projection 23 to operate and connects the output of a microswitch 25 to an image processing means. When the part 11 is horizontal, the actuator 26 pressurizes the projection 23 to turn on the microswitch 25. When the part 11 is vertical, the actuator 26 is moved away from the projection 23 to turn off the microswitch 25. The parameter storing part of the image processing means stores the parameter table of the rotation angle of the image with respect to the posture of the part 11. The image processing means retrieves the parameter storing part based on an output from the means 19 and orients the image based on the retrieved rotation angle to store it in an image storing part.
