PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate manufacture while having sufficient strength and to manufacture members at a low cost by disposing a perforated plate member molding inside a housing of a gas generator. SOLUTION: A gas generator for an air bag is constituted by accommodating an ignition means actuated by impact, and gas generating means 6 ignited and burnt by the ignition means to generate combustion gas, inside a cylindrical housing 3 provided with a plurality of gas exhaust ports. A perforated plate member molding is further coaxially arranged in the housing 3, that is, the perforated plate member molding formed of an expanded metal molding or the like is disposed as a coolant 7 in the housing 3 of the gas generator for the air bag to cool and/or purify operating gas exhausted from the gas generator. In this case, the perforated plate member molding is adjusted to make its radial pressure loss smaller than the whole pressure loss of a plurality of gas exhaust ports formed at the housing 3. Optimum housing internal pressure is therefore obtained. |
