PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to optionally allocate subscriber's numbers independently of a station and to register/delete a subscriber at any time independently of the state of the station. SOLUTION: When a subscriber's number of a terminal 7 is transmitted from a terminal 2 to a line switching part 1, the switching part 1 sends a call setting request to an ATM connection part 3, which retrieves a line switching part 6 storing the terminal 7 from a subscriber's number added to the call setting request, obtains the ATM address of an ATM connection part 8 and requests an ATM switching part 4 to set up a channel. Both the ATM switching parts 4, 9 set up a channel between both the ATM connection parts 3, 8. The line switching part 6 storing the terminal 7 connected to the ATM connection part 8 sets up a channel between the switching part 6 itself and the terminal 7 to set up the channel connecting between the terminals 2, 7.
