PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a flame retardant resin composition that has high flame retardance, high mechanical properties, high heat resistance, high fluidity and high moist heat resistance. SOLUTION: A flame retardant resin composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. polybutylene terephthalate resin, (B) 0.1-100 pts.wt. (B-1) polyethylene terephthalate resin and/or (B-2) polycarbonate resin, (C) 0.01-30 pts.wt. red phosphorus having an electrical conductivity of 0.1-1,000μS/cm ('electrical conductivity' used herein means that the electrical conductivity of an extracted water obtained by adding a 100 mL pure water to 5 g red phosphorus, carrying out an extraction treatment at 121 deg.C for 100 hours, removing the red phosphorus by filtration, and thereafter diluting the filtered water to 250 mL thereof), and (D) 0.1-15 pts.wt. phenol resin.
