PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent ink from leaking from a recording head during transport and a printing characteristic from decreasing even when a head cartridge of a separable type becomes large. SOLUTION: An ink jet recording head cartridge 1 tightly sealed and kept in a preserving container 5 has a recording head 9 with an ink discharge opening and a tank holder 6 for holding an ink tank replaceably. At the time of shipment, a preservation tank 2 is set to the tank holder 6, which has a negative pressure-generating member storage chamber with an atmosphere communication part communicating with the outside and a sealed chamber for forming a sealed space to the outside except a communicating part to the negative pressure- generating member storage chamber. The discharge opening is sealed by a sealing member. The preservation tank 2 has the negative pressure-generating member storage chamber communicating with the interior of the preserving container 5 via the atmosphere communication part, and holds ink of an amount corresponding to an amount of saturated steam in the preserving container 5 or more. Further, ink is filled in the recording head 9 from the preservation tank 2. |
