PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate a refrigerant recovering speed, to conduct a severe refrigerant recovery and to improve a final refrigerant recovery yield by operating a compressor having a large capacity and a compressor having a small capacity, and recovering the refrigerant. SOLUTION: The apparatus for recovering a refrigerant comprises a recovering compressor 2 having a large capacity made of a reciprocating compressor, and a recovering compressor 3 having a small capacity made of a rotary compressor in such a manner that the compressors 2, 3 are connected in parallel. Suction side ports 2A, 3A of the compressors 2, 3 are connected to a connecting port 5 through a heat exchanger 8, discharge port sides 2B, 3B of the compressors 2, 3 are connected to combined piping 10 through closed valves 6, 7, and the piping 10 is connected to an exhaust port 11 through the exchanger 8. A refrigerant pressure in the piping 12 is detected by a pressure sensor 13 mounted at the piping 12, and opening or closing of the valves 6, 7 and operations or stops of the compressors 2, 3 are controlled based on a pressure signal from the sensor 13 by an operation controller 15.
