PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substitute to output in a form close to the output result desired by a user by carrying out a perfecting process as a substitute process when a total page number of a job of bookbinding is larger than a page number processable by a saddle stitch. SOLUTION: When data transferred from a PC/WS 11 via a computer interface part 7 designates bookbinding, a formatter part 8 develops the data to bit map data recordable by a printer part 2 and stores the data in a hard disk 13, then lays out the bit map data again in a bookbinding layout. At this time, a total page number of a job of the bookbinding is compared with a page number processable by a saddle stitch 223. If the total page number of the job is larger than the page number processable by the saddle stitch 223, a perfecting process is carried out as a substitute process.
