PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean an optical part easily and inexpensively and to avoid undesirable influences on environment by cleaning the optical part fouled by a machine oil and/or a fluorine-containing oil with a colorless, perfume-free nonionic detergent. SOLUTION: In cleaning an optical part, after the surface of the optical part is coated with a nonionic detergent and rubbed in the first process, the detergent is washed out with city water, pure water, or distilled water. In the second process,, the surface of the optical part is coated again with the detergent and rubbed, the detergent is washed out with pure water of distilled water. The operation can be done, for example, by a method in which the detergent is dropped on a sponge impregnated with city water, and the optical part is cleaned in a similar way to clean tableware. In the cleaning method, an oil which fouled the optical part is dissolved, and the detergent in which the oil is dissolved is washed out with city water, pure water, or distilled water.
