PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound highly clinically useful and high in safety, and useful as a preventive/therapeutic agent/improver for psychological disorders including schizophrenia, depression and anxiety neurosis. SOLUTION: This new compound is a compound of formula I [R1 is H, a halogen, or the like; (n) is 0-5; R2 is H, an aryl, or the like; R3 is a group of formula II; ring Z is benzene, pyridine, or the like; R5 is nitro or the like; (p) is 0-5, wherein, when the ring Z is pyridine, (p) is 0-4; R4 is a lower alkyl or the like; (m) is 0-2; A is the group NH or the like], pref. 4'-chloro-2-[2-(4- fluorophenyl)-4-methylpyrrolidin-1-yl]acetanilide or the like. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, in the case of the above-illustrated compound, by the following process: using dimethyl methylmalonate as starting material, 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-methylpyrrolidine is formed through various reactions, and then reacted with 2-bromo-4'-chloroacetanilide in a solvent such as anhydrous benzene in the presence of diisopropylethylamine.
