PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a combustor from which is eliminated. SOLUTION: A firing part 30 for a down light type mantle 16 is disposed oppositely thereto at a part of a gas pipe 12. The firing part 30 comprises a plurality of firing ports 32, and a slit 34 connecting them. A firing part 30 playing same role as a pilot burner can be constituted by selecting the diameter of the firing port 32 and the width of the slit 34 optimally. Since a flame from the firing port 32 spreads through the slit 34, the flame blowing out from the firing port 32 is increased. Gas in the mantle 16 can be fired with that flame and the mantle 16 can be combusted surely. When the diameter of the firing port 32 and the width of the slit 34 are selected optimally, flame does not flood from the firing part 30 to the forward end of gas pipe.
