PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance weatherability and an appearance by providing a shielding material capable of interrupting flying particles and ventilating at the outside of main girders positioned in the breadth direction end of a bridge of a plurality of main girders in a steel bridge. SOLUTION: A shielding material 4 of a stream line cross-section having interstices for making ventilation in the vertical direction of a bridge at the outside of main girders positioned at the breadth direction end of the bridge. The upper end of the shielding material 4 is fastened to the outside surface of a balustrade 3 being positioned at the breadth direction end of a floor board 2 so as to cover the outside of the main girders 1 in surrounding relation, the lower end of which is permitted to be in lower position than the end of the main girders 1. In this manner, salt or dust carried with a wind stream 5 is trapped so as to never reach the main girders 1. Since interstices are formed on the shielding material 4 such that the direction of ventilation is turned in the vertical direction of the bridge, a ventilation of the bridge is ensured with the result that particles trapped are readily cleaned by rain fall. Consequently, maintenance is done inexpensively, resulting in obtaining an excellent weatherability and appearance. |
