PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sound-absorbing nonwoven fabric having the freely and readily regulatable maximum peak of absorbing coefficient by the sound- absorbing effect of a film, further having high sound-absorbing properties and useful for an interior material or the like by forming the nonwoven fabric out of a matrix fiber and a heat-weldable fiber, and further forming the surface of the obtained nonwoven fabric into the film-like one by heat treatment. SOLUTION: This sound-absorbing nonwoven fabric comprises a matrix fiber such as a polyethylene terephthalate fiber and a cellulose fiber, preferably in the proportion of 40-95 wt.%, and a heat-weldable fiber such as a polylactic acid fiber, a polycaprolactone fiber and a polypropylene fiber, preferably in the proportion of 5-60 wt.%, and has the surface formed into a film-like one by heat treatment. Preferably, the sound-absorbing nonwoven fabric is produced by subjecting the nonwoven fabric comprising the matrix fiber and the heat- weldable fiber to an uneven heat treatment to improve the degree of fusion of the surface and to form the substantial film shape, and the average density of the sound-absorbing nonwoven fabric is 0.005-0.2 g/cm3. |
