ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the generation source of carbon dioxide gas by applying conducting a voltage which exceeds use voltage and is under the resolution voltage of electrolysis solution to an electric double layer capacitor for prescribed time in a stage before a praised case is sealed in a final process. SOLUTION: Before a prescribed case is sealed in the final manufacture process of an electric double layer capacitor 1, a voltage which exceeds the use voltage of the capacitor 1 and is under the decomposition voltage of electrolyte solution is applied to the terminal of the capacitor 1 to pass the current. Thus, water stored in carbon fiber or carbon fine powder being the main material of a polarizable electrode and a functional group generating water content by decomposition can be decomposed and removed. Oxygen generated from the materials reacts to a part of carbon and becomes carbon dioxide gas by applying the specified voltage. It is sucked and removed to the outside of the system and therefore water content can be removed to a level which can substantially be called as zero. Consequently, performance can be prevented from deteriorating even for the use of a long time.
