PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate echo components even if a microphone input and a loudspeaker output differ in the sampling rate. SOLUTION: A down-sample circuit 32 converts a sampling frequency 16 kHz of a wide-band sound signal becoming an output signal into a sampling frequency 8 kHz of a narrow-band sound signal inputted from an input terminal 10. An adaptive filter 37 estimates an echo signal which creeps from a loudspeaker 28 to a microphone 35 and has an echo passing characteristic by an echo pass filter 34 by using the above-mentioned wide-band sound signal sampled down to an 8 kHz sampling frequency by a down-sampling circuit 32. A subtraction circuit 36 subtracts the estimated echo signal estimated by the adaptive filter 37 from the above-mentioned microphone input signal.
