PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a readily industrially producible metal yarn capable of producing a yarn processed product having excellent durability and practical performances such as antimicrobial properties, stain-resistant properties, deodorizing properties and antifog properties by making the yarn have an inorganic substance layer having photocatalytic function. SOLUTION: This metal yarn has an inorganic substance layer (the thickness of this thin film is preferably 10 nm to 10μm, more preferably 100 nm to 1μm) having a photocatalytic function of anatase type titanium oxide, strontium titanate, or the like. The metal yarn is preferably produced by a cutting method of stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminum, or the like. The diameter of the yarn is <=1 mm, preferably <=500μm, more preferably <=150μm, most preferably <=50μm calculated as the diameter of a circle having the same area as that of the metal yarn. Preferably, the thickness of the fabric of the metal yarn is 50μm to 2 mm and the weight of the fabric is 50-500 g/m2.
