PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anticorrosive coating material exhibiting excellent adhesion and anticorrosiveness to a plated steel such as zinc-plated steel or zinc-alloy-plated steel and being excellent in hot-water resistance and abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: This coating material comprises an aqueous dispersion of an ethylene/unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer having an unsaturated carboxylic acid content of 10-30 wt.% and contains 10-60 mol%, based on the carboxyl groups of the copolymer, polyvalent metal ions and 50-120 mol% alkali metal ions and/or ammonium ions. A metallic material, especially, a plated steel is made anticorrosive by treatment with the coating material.
