PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting a nip in a power window device, which can prevent malfunctioning even though regular pulse intervals cannot be obtained, and which can prevent a nipped item from being exerted with a force greater than a reference value. SOLUTION: A power window device comprises a window opening and closing motor 4, a motor drive part 3, a pulse generating part 5, an MCU 2 including a timer 14, and a switch device 1. Each time when a pulse edge of a pulse delivered from the pulse generating part 5 is received, the MCU 2 computes a nip determining time corresponding to a reference value at the time when the pulse edge is received, so as to update a set time on the timer 14. After a single pulse edge is received, if no next pulse edge is received, the determination of the presence of a nip is interrupted, and the motor 4 is stopped or reversed. The computation of the nip determining time is carried out by looking tables k1, k2 in a memory 10. |
