PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of realizing a sufficiently enlarged image while being miniaturized and capable of obtaining a display picture whose luminance is enough without the increase of power consumption. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 1 has a liquid crystal panel 101 provided with an effective display area PS, a display screen 701 provided with a picture display area DS larger than the area PS, an enlarging and image- forming optical system 501 enlarging and forming the picture of the respective areas of the effective display areas sectioned into plural areas on the screen 701, and a surface light source part 301 illuminating the panel 101 with parallel light. A first microlens array 901 focusing the parallel light inside the respective pixel parts of the panel 101 is provided on the surface light source part side of the panel 101, and a second microlens array 902 making light passing through the panel 101 nearly in parallel is provided on the enlarging and image-forming optical system side. |
