PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a material excellent in safety and biocompatibility, industrially producible with good productivity and useful for proliferating a neuron and regenerating a nerve tissue. SOLUTION: This material for regenerating a nerve comprises crosslinked polysaccharides prepared by covalently bonding and crosslinking polysaccharides having carboxyl groups and/or their salts with a crosslinking reagent comprising a compound represented by the formula R1HN-(CH2)n-NHR2 [R1 and R2 denote each independently hydrogen atom or a group represented by the formula COCH (NH2)-(CH2)4-NH2; (n) denotes an integer of 2-18] and/or its salt. The nerve regenerating material is obtained by filling the material for regenerating the nerve in a tube comprising a bioabsorbable material.
