PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine having processes of washing, rinsing and spin-drying controlled in sequence, wherein an operating time is shortened and a demand is reduced even if the body is formed compact or of a small capacity type. SOLUTION: A washing and spin-drying basket 6 having a pulsator 5 rotatably arranged at the inner bottom is rotatably contained in an outer tub 3, and the pulsator 5 or the washing and spin-drying basket 6 is rotationally driven by a motor 11 while a control means controls a series of processes of washing, rinsing and spin-drying. The control means has a stirring process for rotationally driving the pulsator 5 in at least one process of washing and rising processes. The output of the motor 11 in the stirring process is greater than the output in the processes excluding the stirring process when the pulsator 5 is rotated.
